Last night was a pretty fun Hallowe’en for David and me. We decided to dress up as Maverick and Goose from Top Gun and spend our night hanging with a few friends, both new and old. First, we went over to Gillian and Tim’s place to spend some time with 4 week old Gemma on her first Hallowe’en and then we made our way to the Burtka-Harris Halloween Spooktacular. Our good friends Emma and Josh are BFF with NPH and his fiancée David so we were invited to ring in the Pagan New Year at their place. It was a night of thrills, chills and good times. I was very surprised to see that folks like Joss Whedon and Nathan Fillion were also in attendance at the party last night so, naturally, I had a blast. I have to tell you … Nathan Fillion is a dope guy. He is so down to earth and very cool. His girlfriend Emma is, like, the coolest chick. We all piled into the photobooth (a few times, actually) and took some fun photos. I mean, people, it was fun. NPH and David really went out of their way to put together an unbelievable party, one that was enjoyed by all. Needless to say, David and I had a great time (he more than I, and he’s got the hangover to prove it). But, what makes Hallowe’en most special for us is that it is also our Friendiversary with Emma and Josh. We met them on Hallowe’en night 2009 and have been BFF ever since. Here is one of the photos we snapped together last night:

We love these jokers very much … and we are very lucky that we get to celebrate our friendship by dressing up :)

Tonight, David and I are going to go to Olvera St. in downtown LA for the Day of the Dead celebration tonight so the good times aren’t over yet! I hope YOUR Hallowe’ens were fun! Happy Tuesday!!

Poor Kate Winslet! How frightened she must've been!

Last night, guests staying with tycoon Richard Branson at his private island in the Caribbean thankfully were able to escape a house fire that started at his home. Richard had about 20 guests staying with him, including Kate, when a lightening storm broke out and a bolt hit the house. He, his wife Joan and son Sam were staying a in a different part of the property about a 100 yards away, but as soon as they saw the blaze, they went to help their friends.

In fact, it was Sam that got to Kate first and he helped her escape the house before the fire got worse. According to reports, officials are still trying to get the fire under control and the property is now "completely destroyed."

That's really rough, but on the bright side, no one was hurt. That's what's most important. Still, sorry for the loss, Rich. At least you know you can always rebuild.

We'll get to the kiddies in a second, but can we just say how thrilled we are that Sarah Jessica Parker is not only admitting that a third Sex & The City movie is in the works, but also that she's given serious thought to it. That shows some loyalty. Bravo!

This Parade has an extensive interview with the momma/actress about how she juggles her three kids and her career. It's obviously not a simple task, but its one SJP takes a lot of pride in.

Here are some of the HIGHlights from her interview:

On James Wilkie wanting to be an actor and eager to start auditioning: “I don’t want him to do it until after he goes to college: But part of me thinks maybe it’s better if he knows the truth now about how hard it is to be a working actor. I don’t know that he grasps what it took to get us here.”

On the difficulty of balancing career and motherhood: “We’ve had two occasions recently where both Matthew and I were working, and it was so hard on the kids. Especially James Wilkie, because he can really articulate how he feels about our absence. On the other hand, there are big chunks of time when we’re home a lot more than conventionally working parents. So you hope to make up for it.”

On fraternal twins Loretta and Tabitha: “They’re talking, they’re running, they need me. Loretta is deeply inquisitive: ‘Do you see that, do you hear that, Mama?’ She constantly checks that we are connecting with her.” Her sister is the family princess: “Tabitha does not give; she receives.”

On using babysitters, but not live-in help: “We love closing the door and having the only people in the house be our three children and us. It’s such a good feeling to know that we’re competent and capable and that it’s private."

On any chance for a third Sex and the City movie: “There is. I know what the story is. It’s a small story, but I think it should be told. The question is, what’s the right time to tell it?”

On Friday we learned of a report that claims that Will and Jada Pinkett Smith will be the final guests on The Oprah Winfrey Show … today, a little bird tells me that Will and Jada will not only be the final guests but they will be a pair of MANY final guests on The Oprah Winfrey Show. A source dishes to me that The final ep will tape in Chicago, IL at the United Center in front of 15,000 people (the massive stage will be set up tonight as soon as the Bulls vs. Heat basketball game is finished). Tom Hanks and Tom Cruise will host the final episode and Oprah will be completely surprised by the parade of guests who will come out to honor her. Wanna know who is rumored to be in attendance? Last night David and I got to attend a performance of the amazing new off-Broadway show Sleep No More. For months now I’ve been hearing about this show and have been really anxious to see it. I purchased our tickets for last night’s show back in early June … because the rest of June and all of July had already sold out. I wouldn’t be surprised if you haven’t heard of Sleep No More, most of the buzz has been word of mouth … but I’m telling you right now, it’s an experience that you do NOT want to miss.

Sleep No More is a show loosely based on Shakespeare‘s MacBeth and is performed in an abandoned hotel in Chelsea called The McKittrick Hotel. The masked audience roams around the rooms on the different floors exploring the various sets all while the show’s actors perform in different parts of the hotel. Each person will experience the show differently, depending on what you decide to do. You can spend the 3 hours exploring or you can follow the actors around as they perform. David and I did a bit of both. Some of the rooms and floors were really cool, really creepy. All of the performances were stunning and powerful. The woman who played Lady MacBeth and the male lead who played MacBeth were superb. The 3 witches were also a highlight. MacBeth is my fave Shakespeare play so I was in Heaven. I will say that Sleep No More is very loosely based on The Scottish Play but the key scenes are kept intact. I can’t really explain what an amazing experience this show is. You the audience are IN the show. David was taken by a player into a locked room by himself … so we were separated for a bit. It was just really cool. I was hoping to see Sleep No More again on my next visit to NYC in December but, sadly, the show is closing at the end of September. If you get the chance you MUST MUST MUST see this show. It is unlike any theatrical experience that you have likely ever seen. AND you get to keep the creepy masks as a souvenir :D So fun!!

Tonight … David and I are seeing Rent! Rent is one of my fave musicals of all time and the brand new off-Broadway production had its official opening last night so … woo, I’m excited. Afterward, we are planning on hitting up Splash nightclub for some dancey dancey fun so … should be a great night in NYC :)
